Monday's Good Stuff (07 October 2019)

Hello Everyone,

There is still enough time to do some Christmas crocheting. I found an adorable pattern for an elf. This pattern comes to us from the Amidorable Blog. The completed project would look nice sitting on a shelf or fireplace mantle during the holidays. I haven't gotten in the Christmas spirit the last few years so I am hoping that this year I will find the spirit and do some decorating and baking. I did a bit of Christmas shopping online last night so there might be hope for me yet. 😉

Have a great week.

Hugs,

Sharon

Monday's Link to Free Crochet Pattern (31 October 2016)

Here is a pattern for a cute little snowman. I can hardly believe that the holidays are almost here. Where has the time gone? Maybe all the naps I took this year really made the time fly by. Who knows but anyway it is time to get serious if you want to make decorations or gifts for Christmas like I do. I thought this pattern was cute because the snowman has a silly look about him. Check it out you might like it too.

Hugs,

Sharon

Monday's Link to Free Crochet Pattern (15 August 2016)

I'm a bit off season with today's link. I am sending you to a pattern for a Christmasy afghan. If you start on a big item like this now, you still have plenty of time to make it if you so choose. I've been thinking about what I'd like to make for this years gifts so holiday-themed items came to mind for this week's link. Check it out and see what you think....

Some Finished Items

Hello everyone! I hope your new year has started out in wonderful ways. I have some finished items to share with you. I didn't want to share things made with the same ol' patterns I usually use so I waited until I made something from a new to me pattern. Here's what I have:

This hat is very similar to the Rubylene hat pattern that I enjoy making.

This was going to be for a woman but I think the colors are more manly so it's going to my son who works outdoors.

I've made quite a few of these hats and they seem to have gone over very well and I get requests for them from time to time.

The first 2 pairs are made in the woman's size and the 3rd and 4th pairs are made in the man's size. I had given a few pairs to a friend and someone asked if I would make some to sell so my friend sold them and gave me the money and that's definitely a nice way to start out the new year.

This is all I have for now. See you later...

Sharon

Christmas Comes But Once A Year Cartoon

Today's cartoon was initially released on 04 December 1936. Cartoons back then didn't seem to have much dialog and kids had to use their imaginations to give meaning to the cartoons.

Cheers!

Santa's Surprise Cartoon

I'm going to try to post Christmas stories and videos everyday for your enjoyment until Christmas day. For today's selection I have chosen a cute cartoon from 1947 called Santa's Surprise.

Christmas Stocking Finished

This stocking was lolling around for several weeks minus toes and cuff. Last night I finally finished it.

This is similar to another stocking I made. The other one has red heels.  I think this one might be mine and I will fill it up with goodies for me. I was wondering, am I the only person who fills their own Christmas stocking with goodies?

This is an easy pattern. This is my 3rd time using it. I have 1 more stocking to make.

That's all folks!

Hugs,

Sharon

Christmas Stocking Complete

I took pictures of the 3 stockings I had completed but 2 photos looked very blurry when I loaded them on the laptop. I'll get some new ones and show them to you later.

This is a stocking for Santa to fill for hubby if he's good and minds the mommy of the house (me). I think the husband will do alright with Santa because he's worked very hard this year.

The pattern is by Red Heart and it is found here. It is pretty simple to make. I love the yarn I used and the way it almost looks plaid. It is made from some mill ends I found at JoAnn's in Florida earlier this year.

Guess this is it for now folks. Take care!

My Crochet To-Do List and a Plan

I'm getting serious about my Christmas crochet list. I already have quite a few things made but these are what I have left to do.
  • 2 pair men's extra large slippers
  • 2 hats for men
  • 5 pair women's slippers
  • 5 pair of men's slippers
  • 2 women's hats
  • 1 scarf for woman
  • 2.5 Christmas stockings
I hope this is all I have left to make for Christmas. I have big plans after I finish these projects--I will be attempting a graph afghan--if I don't chicken out. I have a tendency to fall back on many of the same patterns over and over again because I get secure with them. I am also a collector of yarn paraphernalia gadgets. I have butterfly looms, knifty knitter looms and a knook set and I've only used the knifty knitter to make a few hats. I really splurged and bought PC Stitch to make graphs and boy oh boy is it an unfriendly program to use. I am making a resolution here and now to be more adventurous with yarn projects and learn how to use the gadgets I have been hoarding.

I'm going to be seriously watching videos to help me master "graphghaning." Mikey of Crochet Crowd always does a great job with his video tutorials and I expect that these tutorials will be excellent resources to learning how to make a graph afghan.

Okay, the plan is made and I'm excited about it. Just need to stay motivated and finish the Christmas projects quickly.

Take care my friends!

Hugs,
Sharon

Catching up with Hats Post--

Today's projects that I am sharing with you are some hats that I've made. The first hat is a Santa hat in basic black. This pattern is easy to follow and fun to make. I can make one of these in just a little over 1 evening watching TV. Ladies, most of us like our LBD (little black dress) and Santa likes his LBH (little black hat) for everyday wear. Here's his--

Here are a few Seafarer Caps that I made for one of my sons. The bright yellow one is an attempt to make him more visible when he's at work. He works outdoors and I think that yellow might be good for visibility. I've made this pattern before and the first few times I didn't care for it but then as I got more familiar with the pattern I started liking it. I like the looks of this one because it has a more "manly" look to it than many other crocheted hats.

I still have more little projects to share with you but I will leave them for another day. Take care my friends.--

Santa Is a Minnesota Viking

I'm writing this way ahead of time because this hat is a gift for a a friend who is a great fan of the Minnesota Vikings. The 2 Santa hats I made for Christmas went over very well and I had a request for this one and one done in green and white for one of Santa's elves. So, having the delayed appearance of this on my blog is to keep my friend from seeing it before receiving it.

Here it is--

I had plenty of extra yarn so I made this scarf to go with the hat--

The colors aren't showing up on the scarf picture very well. The colors are a golden yellow color and dark purple.

I will be delivering this hat and scarf in person. By the time you read this, I will be inland of San Francisco visiting 2 of my friends. One is a friend since high school way back in the 1970s. We always have fun and lots of laughs even when we're just visiting over coffee.

Take care...
Sharon

Hat for a Junior Elf

I'm still making hats for next Christmas. I feel so motivated.  This hat is for a young child. This pattern is very easy. The only variation I did was to make a pompom instead of a crocheted "ball" to put on the peak of the hat. I hope I get to see a picture of youngster wearing this hat next holiday season.  Here it is--

I found a new pattern for slipper socks that I want to try. These are a bit more "light-weight." I need to step out of my comfort zone and try something different. I finished a scarf last night except for weaving in the ends. There are a lot of them since there are stripes involved. Hope to have that ready to show you in a day or 2.

That's all for now folks.

Hugs,
Sharon

Getting Ready for Christmas 2015

The 2 Santa hats I made for last Christmas went over so well that I had requests for more. I was requested to make one in green for one of the elves in California at the North Pole.  This is a fun pattern to make--it's easy and for me, it takes a little over an evening watching television to make one start-to-finish. It's great to have such an early head start on projects for next Christmas.

There will now be one elf staying warm next winter.

That's all folks. Hope y'all are doing okay. Take care my friends.

Hugs,
Sharon

Finally, you are caught up with making and buying holiday gifts. But wait a minute, there isn't a gift for Furbaby! OH NO! Never fear, in a night or 2 you can make a sweater for your furry one.
Here's 1 pattern that is good for slippers for men, women and children. Yes, I know this pattern is the same that I've crocheted a gazillion pairs of slippers from. I love this pattern and I think everyone else should too (giggle, giggle).

And last but not least, slipper socks for a baby.

You should be about finished with holiday preparations (other than cooking Christmas dinner) so prop your feet up and have a cup of eggnog in your choice of regular or unleaded.  Now RELAX!

Hugs to all and to all a good night!

Little Christmas Tree--

Here's a little Christmas tree for a special person. It was fun making this although a bit tedious sewing all the "ornaments" on. The thread spool I used was from an assortment of thread I bought at a thrift store. The thread sticker said that it originally cost 18 cents. I also twisted a novelty Christmas necklace around it to give it some lights. Here it is--

I am just about finished with my Christmas shopping. Sent something off to son last week. Just need to get 2 gifts and then I'm done. Hubby and I decided not to do much for gifts this year since we are spending money fixing up our "Camp No Mo Sno" here in Florida.

Sending you all happy thoughts, wishes and hopes for a blessed holiday.

Hugs,
Sharon

Monday's Link to Free Crochet Pattern (15 December 2014)

Only 1 1/2 weeks until Christmas and we still need a gift or 2. Here are a few patterns that might help you out.
  • Do you still have some of Lion boucle yarn that was discontinued a few years ago and sold at Dollar Tree? I know that more than a few of us hoarded stockpiled a fair amount of it. Anyway, if you did or you have a comparable yarn, here's a cute hat pattern for the ladies on your list.
  • Ski hat for man (or woman too)
  • Checkers game for kids
  • Lovey blanket for baby
Don't forget to wrap your gifts as you make/or purchase them. The last minute rush to wrap
gifts can turn into a hair-pulling event.

Cheers--
Sharon

Donald Duck and the rascally Chip and Dale bring their own special talents in these cute seasonal cartoons. Get yourself comfortable and maybe a nice cup of hot chocolate and watch the antics of these little critters.

Monday's Link to Free Crochet Pattern (08 December 2014)

We still need some gifts for Christmas but what can we make at home and not have to go out and face the mobs? For those who have a stash of yarn, last minute homemade gifts are no problems or if you don't have a stash yarn is available by ordering it online in only a few days.
These patterns may help you out with last minute gifts. Patterns look quick, probably only an evening or 2 to finish.

Hope you're not stressing out. This is the season of love, peace and joy.

Hugs to all,,,

Monday's Link to Free Crochet Pattern (01 December 2014)

Where has the time gone? It's December already and Christmas is only a little over 3 weeks away! Here are the last of the links I'm going to be posting for a few, last minute decorative items. The next few weeks I'll post some gift items that you can make in one evening or less. So, here's the last of the decorations:

I hope you're about finished with your decorating. Time always flies so fast this time of the year. For those of us who live in states with 4 distinct seasons, it seems like yesterday we were cooking out on our grills and eating outdoors.

Take care my friends...
