Made a few dishcloths for a friend of mine--I have another coordinating one to put with these.. I had forgotten my project in the garage and I just didn't want to face the cold and go get it. I know you've seen some of these dishcloths on my blog before--I just love them and can't help myself lol! Anyway, here they are--

A Couple Hats for the Guys
You may remember, that I had mentioned a few posts ago that I was trying to decide what to make for my friend's grandsons. They're big boys so whatever I made for them had to be somewhat manly. I decided to make them each a hat. They have to walk to school so I thought that a slouch style hat might be a good choice. Here's what I ended up with:
I'm so excited about my trip that I have started packing already even though I'm not leaving until February 4th. The background of the pictures is my suitcase!
This was an easy pattern--it took me a few rows to get my rhythm going and then it was a piece of cake to make.
Thanks for looking. Hope y'all are having a great week.

Sharing a Spam Comment
Received an inane spam comment today that made me chuckle over the writer's attempt to appear to not be posting spam. Here it is (with links removed):
Hi, i read your blog from time to time and i own a similar one and i was just curious if you get a lot of spam comments? If so how do you stop it, any plugin or anything you can suggest? I get so much lately it's driving me insane so any support is very much appreciated.
Feel free to surf to my page :: #$#$%%%^$$#
Look at my site -(&%(&)*_^%$%
Thought this was pretty humorous. Like I was really going to post the original comment. The included links were for what seemed to be online money lenders; I'm not sure because I was being cautious by not visiting them.
I moderate comments on my blog. Once in a while, I'll have to weed out some spam but by not utilizing a captcha, it is much user friendly.
Well, this is it for today. Take care...

Beautiful Sculptures
A friend sent me this in an email and I think that you will appreciate it too. It is amazing to me that all these sculptures are made of paper. Here's the video for your enjoyment:

If You Use a Kindle--
You may like this site. It has loads of free books. Most of them seem to be written by new authors so if you like what you read then it is beneficial to them to write a nice review. If you don't care for them, then you may still write a review or just delete the book and no biggie because it was free anyway. I rarely buy books for my Kindle because there are so many good ones available for free. I think it is important to note, that many books are free for a short time so before you "check out" make sure that it is still free. I have accidentally paid for a couple books because I got click happy when checking out. I always love a bargain and thought I'd share this one with you. If you don't have a Kindle, Amazon offers free software so that you can read their books on other devices.
Hugs...

WIP Wednesday--Almost a Hat
I was hoping to have a finished hat today to show you but I was so sleepy yesterday I took a nap and went to bed pretty early too. Anyway, I thought that I would show you what I have so far.
The pattern comes in 2 sizes--for men and women. I was confused for a bit when I first started crocheting this but then suddenly I had one of those struck by lightning moments and the pattern became clear to me.
The good news I received the other day was that my disability claim with the VA was approved. An adviser for veterans told me that I should have filed a claim earlier and my reply was that I could do without it and waited until I needed help from them. I did the same thing with my sons who were both eligible for SSI when they were in special classes at school--we didn't need it so we didn't apply for it. He told me that unfortunately, that unless veterans with service connected disabilities go to the VA doctors FREQUENTLY then it is much harder to successfully process claims. Finally it has worked out for me and that's what matters.
Hope everyone's week is going ok.

Here's a sharp looking crocheted hat for men or women. I'm making one now and I'll show it to you when I'm finished. For mine, I'm just using some navy blue Red Heart SS that was in my stash. I'm probably going to give this to one of my friend's grandsons.
Wishing you a wonderful week. My week started out great and I'll tell you about that in a later post when I have a little more time. Take care....

Butterfly Hat and Scarf
Here is a butterfly hat and scarf set for a little girl. I'm going visiting next month and wanted to bring something to my friend's grandchildren. I have scarves in my gift drawer for the big girls and this is for the little girl. Still have to figure out something for the 2 boys. Maybe they like to wash dishes and need new dishcloths? Nah, they might not be too fond of me if I did that! Here are the pics:
Thanks for visiting and hugs to all.
Hat
Scarf
I like the looks of this set because it's somewhat different than the most other hats/scarves that I was able to find.

Addendum--
I have an addendum to this post where I made a slide show of all projects completed in 2012. I didn't think I'd make anything else but, I did. These are my absolutely final, finished projects for 2012!
First off, I made the 2 yellow dishcloths. I retrieved a ball of yellow cotton that had been languishing and forgotten in a corner, under the couch for who knows how long. After digging it out, dusting it off, I spilled coffee on it. I decided to go ahead and make the dishcloths and then toss in the washer. No big deal if they were stained because none of my other dishcloths are pristine either. Take my word for it, working with cotton yarn that is damp in some places is not an easy thing to do.
Then, the leftover yarn I had from these and a small ball of reddish stuff that coordinated, I made this dishcloth that I'll go ahead and have dh give to him too.
For Christmas, I had given the gentleman next door some dishcloths. He thought they were potholders but they're not so I made him these to coordinate with his dishcloths.

Patterns used:
I had a little extra time to crochet because dh and I were both down with the flu bug that's resistant to the flu shot given this year.
First project for next year is to pick up an ufo afghan. I only have about 6" finished. I've promised to make this for someone and I really need to get my rear in gear and get it done.
And this is it for 2012
Happy New Year everyone!!!
Monday's Link to Free Crochet Pattern (31 December 2012)
It is hard to believe that today is the last day in 2012. As I've gotten older, the years seem to go by in the blink of an eye. When I was younger, I remember that "old" people seemed to frequently reminisce but now I realize they were talking about current events. I'm off topic here but I just had to share that thought with you. Today's link to a free pattern is for a baby vest . It has granny squares and is adorable. Check it out here for yourself. Thanks for visiting!

Roundup of 2012 Crochet Projects
Since I probably won't complete any more projects before the end of the year, I made my yearly slideshow up. I do believe I got a bit carried away with the slippers this year--I still have a stack of them in the gift drawer. Anyway, here's my yearly roundup of projects.

Peppermint Bark
Last year when I visited with friends in Northern California, they had the most delicious peppermint bark. It was rather pricey so I decided to make my own. I found a simple recipe here. I improvised a bit. I used candy canes because they were already marked down in price and I used 1 1/2 lbs of almond bark. I chose this recipe because I didn't have to buy the peppermint oil. By pulverizing some of the candy canes until they were powder and stirring the powder into the melted bark, there was no need for peppermint oil. Here's a picture of mine cooling.
Have a blessed holiday. Hugs to all of my wonderful family and friends.
