Quick Crochet Fix and Some Questions Answered.
For this pair, I'm using some old Caron Dazzleaire yarn out of my stash of partial skeins.
Question referring to the start of the ribbed cuff after making the main portion of the bootie: "...it starts with a foundation chain of 9 chs. But what purpose does it serve? Where is it attached, if at all? It doesn't say. Until now it's like a single tail that just hangs there.
Here's where I've finished row 8 of the upper foot (do not fasten off unless you want the cuff a different color):
After finishing the upper foot, you will have your choice of the plain cuff or the ribbed cuff. I am doing the ribbed cuff.
Starting the ribbed cuff for 1 color bootie:
Starting the ribbed cuff for 2 colors:
- Join 2nd color at the center back
- Ch 9
From now on, I'm just going to show the white bootie because it is the same for both pairs.
"why don't Rows 2 and 3 of the cuff go all the way around? I have 20 sts all around, but it says to just sc in 8 sts then turn, sc in 8 sts then turn etc. When/how do I get to the other side?"
You'll be working the 7 single crochets in this chain that is attached to the main part of the bootie.
Then you will slip stitch into the next 2 dc that are in the last row of the main part of the bootie.
Next you will turn, and (in the back loops) 8 sc aross the single crochets you just made in the chains
Look at the pattern and you will see that you will work in a similar pattern until the end (I had 20 rows).
Here's a picture of mine up to this point:
Last question: The last sentence says to "Sew last row of Ribbed Cuff to opposite side of foundation ch." But which side is the opposite? Until now, the foundation ch has 2 sides because it remains unattached!
The foundation row is the one the crochet hook is pointing toward.
Stay tuned for finished booties...

Here's a cute pair of baby booties to crochet. They look like cowboy boots complete with spurs! This is an interesting pattern and small enough to make on those hot summer days that are coming up. Enjoy!

Here's the Reveal
Here's the baby/toddler ghan FINALLY finished! I got bogged down with the granny squares and my CADD (crochet attention deficit disorder) kicked in quite a bit. I love how it turned out though. I used this pattern as inspiration. Yarn is Caron and is super soft. Need to wash it and package it up because it's new home is going to be in California. I ended up with quite a bit of extra white yarn so I'm working on a something-something to go with it but that's for another day ;).
Have a wonderful weekend and a blessed Easter.

I saw this pattern and it was love at first sight. Lately, I've gotten into the granny square look. This is a baby afghan that has the squares but also it is a bit avant garde. I can see that it would be easy to enlarge it into a 'ghan for adults too. Here's the pattern. Have a great week y'all...

Here's a cute baby bunting. You may have to be a member to access the pattern but it is a reliable, legitimate site (Bernat) so go ahead and register. Definitely a cute item for a baby.

Diaper Cake Tutorial and Links
I've seen these diaper "cakes" several times as I've scanned the Internet. I was thrilled to find this video on how to make them. The gal who submitted this video has written instructions on her web page. I have to let you know that she has some sort of protection so that you can not copy and paste the pattern to a blank document and save. Just think of all the cute crochet items you can make to decorate the cake!

Baby Blanket for Cousin's Baby Boy

In this posting, I made mention of the baby blanket I've been working on for my cousin's baby boy due later this year. Anyway, here is the finished item--Ok, so I did hide the ends I need to weave in before I took the photos :). I modified the pattern I started out with so much that I ended up with a totally different look. In the beginning I was concerned that it would be too plain but I really think the edging gives it that extra "pop" that it needed. In the closeup, you can see the edging and the shell with ridges design. I hope you have enjoyed looking at it. Hugs to all...

Here is a round ripple baby afghan/blanket that I made for the new baby girl my nephew's girlfriend is expecting! I hope she likes it. The pattern is Aggie May's from crochetville.org. I made it a little bigger than most people make theirs so that when the baby is a toddler she can still use it. (Originally posted on my Yahoo 360 blog)

Here's a baby afghan that I finished for my cousin's baby girl. She was born several months ago but as usual, I am SLOW!!! I used Aggie May's rr pattern. If you would like this pattern, send Aggie May a message over at http://www.crochetville.org/ . She has graciously shared this pattern with many of us. The colors are terribly off in the picture, in real life they are a light fuschia with a varigated that has light fuschia, lt. purple and pink and are beautiful.
