Did You Ever Notice...
People on Etsy scanning patterns from major companies and selling pdfs of them? That's really brazen. I saw one "store" there with 556 positive feedback and I recognize many, many patterns from older books I've used (exact same pictures). Amazing how she's selling these patterns for a little over $2 each. That's over $1100 she made just off of people who have left feedback and no telling how many people bought patterns from her without leaving feedback. I believe this is known as copyright infringement. I'm really not a member of the crochet posse, this one instance really amazed me in it's flagrant theft.

ReplyDeleteHave a nice day !

For some reason, alot of people think it's ok to do something like that. And no one can say anything about it for fear of getting trashed. So I guess it's alright if we sell someone else's pattern, or copy someone else's pattern and claim rights to it. I think it's all shameful.
ReplyDeleteSad world we live in.
ReplyDeleteDid you report them to Etsy? I found a lady doing Japanese patterns -- entire scanned books -- and I reported it. They removed her immediately.
ReplyDeleteI just did after reading your comment. I even put a link in to a book on Amazon that these patterns were in. I am amazed at the boldness of this lady AND the number of people buying these "black market" patterns.
ReplyDeleteI agree, as noted in my ealier blog post entitled "etsy pattern fraud" It seriously burns me up knowing that people are comitting these hanus acts. It's just not right. We honest folks work so hard at being good and helping others, and it only takes one bad seed to ruin the entire crop sometimes. I feel like I want to scream reading that you have found yet even more idiocy. I only hope some day there will be an end to that. I have considered reporting it, but I figure they will receive justice in due time. I have this phylosophy that there isn't much worse you can do to someone who is corrupted then to let them be theirselves, since they are their own worst enemy, and in time it is they ultimately who will cause their own demise and up and comings. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI reported the etsy seller yesterday. The shop is still there selling the same patterns.
ReplyDeleteWow, I guess Etsy does not care while they are still making a profit from it as well. Tisk, tisk *nods head back and forth* it's a shame too. There are many theives getting away with their crimes these days, and it sickens me.
