In one day, hubby and his buddy laid a new subfloor in the bedroom--
and installed the flooring. For the flooring, we went with linoleum. I know, linoleum isn't the normal choice for bedroom floors. This is a snowbird/vacation home where cost and ease of care are the top concerns. I chose a linoleum product with the look of aged hardwood. I think it looks great and a bravo zulu to the installers!
Hubby is at the store getting some new baseboards. Things are really coming along and the bedroom and master bath should be done before we head north next month (fingers crossed).
This is all I have for today. I have finished more dishcloths from a new-to-me pattern but I will save those for another day.
Take care everyone!

More Progress on the Bathroom...
Catching you up with the progress on the bathroom remodel that hubby is doing. When I thought about redoing the bathroom, I thought it would be a simple job because of the small size. Ha! To do it right, lots of "stuff" needs to be done. New subfloors before flooring is put in, new drywall because the old was trashed and since the drywall was down, might as well put new insulation in too. There were some manufacture things that seemed wrong such as the toilet plumbing would not allow the toilet to be centered under the window--you'll see this in one of the pictures below. Okay, here's the pics:
Vanity with new light. Plumbing needs to be connected. Painting is done
Shower. Linen closet will be installed to your right.
Here you can see the new toilet. If it was centered, lots of work would need to be done rerouting pipes under the trailor.
Another view of vanity. We need to put handles and knobs on drawers and doors.
Light fixture above sink. Mirror will go under light.
"Studs" marked for medicine cabinet install.
As you can see, lots has been done but there is still quite a bit of odds and ends to do. The color is a peach-like color. I had thought it was going to be a blush-looking color but it turned out quite a bit darker. I seem to have a problem with pinkish, coral or orangey colors and I always get them darker than I like. In Kentucky, I ended up with what I thought was going to be a soft pink but ended up being a cotton candy pink. Oh well, one of these days I'll get it right.
Y'all take care and thanks for stopping in.

Work Progress on Bathroom and Bedroom
Lots of work has been happening on the master bedroom and bathroom. Finally, the bathroom vanity is out of the living room but 2 chests of drawers have moved in. Here's some pictures--
That's it for now. Things are shaping up and I hope to be able to share the finished project with you soon.
Hugs,
Sharon
New drywall on walls in master bedroom
New door on closet and drywall and mudding on wall done.
Bathroom--all mudded and needs sanding:
Much more work was done by this afternoon:
Drywall--primed
A bit of miscalculation making the 1/2 wall and a bit of deconstruction took place when installing the vanity.
Vanity is being installed. This is a beautiful vanity that we were fortunate to get second hand. It is in primo condition!
And the spot for the commode. I really like the linoleum in here. It looks great, it's cheap and easy to care for in a vacation/snowbird home.
Hugs,
Sharon

Master Bath/Bedroom Update on March 2nd
Hubby is still working hard fixing up the bathroom. He has started some projects in the master bedroom too. Here's a look at what he's recently done
New drywall and plastic over door helps minimize the amount of dust flying through the house from sanding the "mudding" on the drywall.
2 walls with new drywall
Mudding in progress and half wall built to butt the vanity against. The vanity is "recycled" and the ends are not finished so the half wall will cover up the rough side. I still like the purple color. I have chosen a pretty color and when it is all painted I will let you in on it.
Closet in master bedroom will soon have a light switch
instead of a pull cord.
I've been rather off with my crocheting. Haven't picked up my hook in a few days. I hope to get my crochet mojo back before too long.
So much for today's update.
Hugs,
Sharon

Update on Bathroom Re-do
I have a few pictures of the update on the remodeling of the master bath hubby has been working on. He's slowly but surely getting it done and our neighbor has been giving him a lot of help Okay, here's the latest and greatest updates:
New wall between master bedroom and bath
Shower stall is in with water connected but not drain.
Space next to shower is going to be an extra deep linen closet. Room in the back for things rarely used such as sheets to fit air mattress and sleeper sofa.
Floor got covered up after install with paper and cardboard to protect it before I got picture. This picture and the next are "hints" of what it looks like. It is linoleum.
The towel bars I bought will not work so it's back to the store with them. I bought some large hooks and we'll make do with them to hang our towels on. I've seen that idea somewhere before, maybe on hgtv.
This is all I have for now. Take care my friends.

Working on Our Snowbird Master Bathroom
I thought that I might share some pictures with you of the bathroom remodel that the husband is doing. This place may have been "cheap" to purchase but the remodels that we have undertaken are more than we thought we'd have to do and this is after we paid a home inspector! Anyway, here we are at the beginning stages after clearing out for the work to commence.
This tub is dangerous. Stepping in or out of it is a fall hazard. It is also worn out and has cracks in it.
OOPS, forgot to take hamper out and I didn't want you to see our undies.
There is a hole in the wall that hubby had covered with tape because he was afraid a critter might get inside and BITE us! The hole is at the correct level and size for a madman sitting on the john to do a sideways punch and damage the wall.
As you can see, there was no trim at the top of the shower walls.
Blue trim in shower was painted with regular wall paint. It has gradually been washing off.
Ugly light fixture that will be replaced with an exhaust fan and light combo.
Ugly light and mirror. Both will be replaced.
Bathtub shower combo has been removed. Look at the acorns that were under the tub!
Wall that was damaged by a roof leak. I knew there was a problem when I cleaned the shower walls and there was quite a bit of "give" when any amount of scrubbing power was used. Glad we replaced the roof.
Another look at the wall that was damaged by the leaking roof.
And yet another look at the damaged wall. You are seeing into the master bedroom.
Here's a closeup of the acorns that a critter deposited under the tub.
Here is a look at the hole in the wall that was next to the toilet.
Looking from the bedroom into the damaged wall into the shower.
View of wall in master bedroom that needs repair
Tub and vanity ready for disposal.
Looking at shower area. Flooring will all be replaced.
Spot for the new toilet
I think we have just about everything to do the job except for the drywall and new toilet. I went today and did the shopping for new faucets
, some fasteners and towel bars
. We have a nice vanity that we bought 2nd hand last year and it has been sitting in the living room since then--how crazy is that? It is about 60" long and has much more storage room than the old one. Stay tuned for more pictures to watch the progress as this scuzzy space becomes a pretty and practical bathroom.
Take care everyone!

New Snowbird Kitchen
I have been asked several times recently about how the remodel on our snowbird kitchen turned out. It turned out GREAT! Husband did a fantastic job with some assistance from our neighbor. Everything had to be done on the "cheap." The sink and faucets are "hand-me-downs" from someone who had recently remodeled their kitchen. The cabinets
mainly came from a scratch and dent store and a few were unfinished ones from Home Depot. The flooring was purchased with a military discount. The original cabinets were warped and sagging. They were made from particle board and had been water damaged. The original counters slanted. The flooring was in bad shape both functionally and aesthetically. I had tried to "dress things up" a bit with my red accessories and small appliances but it didn't help much. The following slide show video gives you a look at how things ended up. Enjoy!
Hugs,
Sharon
