Homemade Window Cleaner

I ran out of window cleaner and decided to make my own. I went to this webpage and tried recipe #2 because it looked simple, made a small batch and I had all the ingredients. It does a so-so job of cleaning. I'm not terribly impressed with it so I'm going to try another recipe later on. Does anyone make their own and if so, are you willing to share your recipe?

  1. I don't make anything special but I find white vinegar and water works great, I usually use 1 part vinegar and 2 parts water...and always use one of those miracle cloths to wipe the windows.....seems to work good.

  2. That sounds a lot stronger than the recipe I followed that only called for 3 tablespoons of vinegar and 2 cups of water plus a 1/2 tsp of dish soap. There are a few window cleaner recipes that call for using cornstarch and that was a new one to me.

  4. Yep Mary, definitely shouldn't forget the elbow grease. My chihuahuas make sure I have plenty of opportunity for that on the French doors! :)
