More Baby Booties...

I'm on a roll with crocheting baby booties. This is the 3rd pair and I'm putting them aside for some lucky baby in the future. Same pattern as the others I've recently made--pattern info is: "Winner's Circle: Easy Baby Booties."Crochet World, June 2010: 6-7. The yarn I used was some left-over yarn from an afghan I recently finished. It is a RedHeart yarn but I don't know the specifics on it because I threw the label away. I do know it is acrylic and the color is off-white with flecks of tan, blue and green. Thanks for looking.

  1. Hi Sharon, thanks for sharing your finished baby booties! They are so cute that I went and bought the pattern on e-patterncentral and tried it out myself. The version with the plain cuff worked out perfectly (just like your booties in blue with the pompoms), but I had difficulty with following the instructions for the ribbed cuff. It just didn't make any sense whatsoever... Do you think you could give me some tips?
    Thanks! Lara

    2. Great, thank you so much for your quick reply! Have you found your pattern so you can see what it says?

Basically, I'm having difficulty with the entire Ribbed Cuff part, after Row 8 of the Upper Foot. It would help to know what I'm supposed to be working on and how it's supposed to look like.
For example, it starts with a foundation chain of 9 chs. But what purpose does it serve? Where is it attached, if at all? It doesn't say. Until now it's like a single tail that just hangs there.
Also, why don't Rows 2 and 3 of the cuff go all the way around? I have 20 sts all around, but it says to just sc in 8 sts then turn, sc in 8 sts then turn etc. When/how do I get to the other side?
My last question: the last sentence says to "Sew last row of Ribbed Cuff to opposite side of foundation ch." But which side is the opposite? Until now, the foundation ch has 2 sides because it remains unattached!

I'm totally confused. I hope my questions make sense and you can help me out. I appreciate your help. I have no idea how you made your booties look so perfect!

    3. It dawned on me that it would be easier to post some pictures and it might be easier to understand. So, I made a posting that might be of some help. It's at http://homeofalonelywoman.blogspot.com/2012/07/quick-crochet-fix-and-some-questions.html. If I'm confusing things, let me know and I'll be happy to answer any additional questions.

  2. Found my pattern and I'll start a pair of booties tonight so I can get to the parts where you have questions. I'll go ahead and post in the comments here what I think are the answers to your questions. :)
