Ripple Baby Afghan/Blanket--A WIP (Work in Progress)

Here's my latest wip.  It is a baby blanket based on a pattern I found at Lion Brand Yarns.  I am making it out of sc instead of dc for a tighter weave.  It looks narrower than I expected.  Originally I was going to give this to a toddler I know but I think after I finish it I'll put it in my "gift" drawer and give it to the next little boy born in the family.  I thought this color scheme, burgundy and white, was more appropriate for a toddler--I'm still of the old-school mind-set and like pastels for newborn babies.  I get rather nostalgic over ripple baby afghans/blankets because that is what I made for my older son before he was born.  I started it when I first got married just to have something to do.  I didn't have the stick-to-it-ness and I finished it about a week before he was born 2 1/2 years later!  I have speeded up some in recent years so I know the one I'm working on now will be finished in a few weeks.  Take care y'all...Hugs...

  1. I can't wait to see it when you are done, It looks great already, I have never done the ripple stitch but I hope to one day. I am working on a baby blanket for fun, I got the pattern in the Crochet Today magazine I got the other day and I just thought it was so pretty, it is a shell stitch I will post it on my blog when I am done. I am doing it in yellow in hopes of giving it to my step daughter she and her hubby are planning to start for a baby sometime in the near future. I cant wait to check out the Monday blog about the afghan and I can't wait to see the other patterns you decide to post...have a good day!!

  2. Thank you very much! I'm looking forward to seeing the baby blanket you're making too. Like I said before, I like pastels for babies and I'm sure your blanket will look great! When I had my older son, I not only made him the blanket, I also made a yellow sweater (shell pattern) with matching hat and booties. I also sewed him a yellow animal print sleeper. Everything had to be handmade for the first baby's first outfit lol!

  4. Thanks Lynn! They are just like kids. One is mellow and one is a bully! Nellie is a real Diva, she wants everything her way. We've been empty-nesters for a while now and the little dogs have taken the kids places. Actually, we spoil them more lol!
