07-08-2008 This day in 1932-- Dow Jones

On July 8, 1932, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell to its lowest point during the Great Depression. The Dow Jones was originally founded in 1882 by Charles Henry Dow, Edward Davis Jones and Charles Milford Bergstresser. They operated out of a small basement office on Wall Street. In those days, the company produced a daily hand-written news bulletin delivered by messengers to subscribers in the Wall Street area. In 1889, The Wall Street Journal was founded by their company. If you go to http://www.dowjones.com/TheCompany/AboutDowJones.htm you can read more about the history of the Dow Jones. Enjoy!
