Spiderman Baby/Toddler 'Ghan is Complete

It's done and now I'm getting ready to start a new project. I need to make a minion hat for a little boy.  There are several cute patterns in cyber-world and I need to pick one out.

Today is canning day. Yesterday's sauce is cooked down and I need to heat it, get it in jars and processed. Love the smell of tomato sauce cooking--it's like walking into an Italian restaurant. Who would of thought that plain ol' simmering tomato sauce could smell so good?

I'm rambling now so I'll be a good girl and get out of here.

A Glitch in Finishing Blanket Tonight

I'm crocheting along, only a few minutes to go and my latest project is finished. When to to my wondering eyes should appear but a "lump" on my project.

Seems that Nellie Belle wanted some attention and since she's now an only child, the yarn and hook were put aside and it was time for some cuddling.

I'll finish the blanket tomorrow and then we'll probably have some more "quality time".

Peeking at a Work in Progress

This is what I'm working on now. It is going to be a Spiderman baby afghan for a friend's soon-to-be-born new grandson. I have more rounds to make and the webbing to put on. I love making round ripple afghans, they're so relaxing to work on.

Crocheted Spiderman-Like Baby Blanket

This week I finished a baby blanket reminiscent of Spiderman's web. This is going to the soon to be born grandson of my neighbors. Their daughter and son in law are decorating the baby's room with a super hero theme. The basic round ripple pattern is by Aggie May of Crochetville. I finished it up by using bits and pieces from other similar "web like" patterns others had done. Hope the new parents like it.  Oh, if anyone is interested in the basic round ripple pattern I used, Aggie May has generously shared her pattern to Crochetville members who have pm'd her at Crochetville.

It's a Spiderman afghan! I love these afghan's and have already made a baby one and one for a child. Soon, I'm going to be making another one because our neighbor's daughter is expecting a baby and she's decorating the nursery in super heroes. The picture is of one I made a few years ago (not sure if I used this exact pattern or not).

Spiderman Needs an Afghan Too...

A friend of mine shamed me because I made blankets for my friends when they had babies but she didn't get  one for her son.  Shame on me!  She liked the Spiderman version of the round ripple because her son is wild about Spiderman.  So, I put my mind to making one for the little guy.  Then, I got sidetracked and the the thought "I have plenty of time to do this.  It'll go fast."  Yeah, right.  When I finally got down to the nitty-gritty, I ended up making it a few rounds shorter than planned and I was weaving in those irksome ends as I was riding down the road to see them!  Didn't get a chance to do a quick laundering so the little guy has also received some strands of little doggie hairs from my "kids."  He asked me what the ghan was for and I told him that when he covered up with it then Spiderman's web would keep him warm and safe.  His mom has reported to me that he has tossed aside his store-bought blanket.  This little guy is so cute and I was so happy to have a crochet project so well received.  Here's a picture of it---

Getting Back on Track With Magic Ball Afghan, Finishing up Doily and Getting Ready for Next Project...

Yesterday, I had doctor appointments in Louisville, about an hour from here. When I go there I have the opportunity to to stop at Hobby Lobby. Yesterday I got the black yarn to finish my magic ball afghan. I also got red yarn to use in a spiderman ghan for a friend's little boy. The ww acrylic blues they had just didn't look right so I stopped at Meijers on my way home and they had a good blue color by Bernat. I was a naughty girl at Hobby Lobby and splurged on a few bamboo handled hooks. I love my J-Hook with a bamboo handle so I thought I'd try some others. No good sales yesterday though--maybe that is good because I impulse buy too much on yarn--yarn comes in faster than it goes out lol!

The spiral simplicity doily I'm making for my uncle is coming along. I'm working on the last 2 rounds! YIPPEE! I hope to finish it up this week and get it in the mail to him. Below is a picture of it so far. Definitely needs some blocking when it's finished.

Above is a toddler-sized spiderman ghan I made a couple years ago. The one I'll be starting soon will be a little larger for a little boy in elementary school. I use the round ripple pattern that AggieMay from crochetville generously provides to other members who pm her.

07-06-2008 Spiderman RR Baby Blanket FINISHED!

I finished the Spiderman rr baby blanket this morning. It is for my niece's baby boy due in November. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. As I usually do, the blanket is a little over-sized so that when the little one is toddling around, he can still use it. I just need to wash it and send it. I'll mail it off as soon as the little one is born. Write me and let me know what you think!

I've picked up the dog sweater that's been giving me H--L and once again, I'm already ready to toss it! I wrote a quick posting on crochetville and maybe one of the kind people there will have a suggestion or two for me. Has anyone made the sweater found here http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=194 ?

Maybe I should buy a cute sweater and make an afghan out of the yarn I have. Hmmmm, that's an idea lol!

Hey There--As I get frustrated with the dog

sweater I am making, I pick up another project to work on. Currently, I am working on a round ripple afghan (child size) for my niece's baby boy due in November. I have numerous more rounds to do plus add the webbing that radiates from the center and finally the dreaded weaving in of the loose ends! I'm really proud of it so far.
