Another Hat and Scarf Set

I had finished this hat and scarf set a few months ago. See, I really am slow about sharing things. This set is for a little bit older young lady than the one I made the pencil scarf set for. I love the hat, it seems like slouchy hats are warmer because you can pull them waaaaay over your ears. This scarf is a bit on the small side but the lady I made it for is petite. I like scarves like these because they are easy to wear as an accent accessory with a sweater or turtle neck if you prefer. Enough gabbing for now and here come the pictures.

A Hat and Scarf Set Is Finished

Howdy Folks, yep it really is me. I'm getting tired of moping around and feeling sorry for myself so I have finished some crochet projects. I am working on things for Christmas. I made this scarf and hat for a sweet young lady. Here's the pics:

I enjoyed making these. The only thing I had issues with was the pencil scarf rows angled a bit and I'm not sure why. I do like both the scarf and hat and I may make both of them again sometimme.

Stay safe folks.

Hugs,

Sharon

Painted Desert Seafarers Cap

Hi everyone,

I'm back again with another completed project. I was having a difficult time with an afghan I was making so I took a break from it and made another cap using the Seafarers Cap pattern. It took a tiny bit less than a 5 ounce skein of Red Heart worsted weight yarn in the painted desert color. I love this hat pattern and I can see myself becoming obsessed with making many more of these. It is a warm, basic hat that can be left as is or dressed up with pompoms, buttons or flowers. I like that the brim folds over and keeps the ears toasty warm. Enough with the gab already, show the the picture!

I hope that everyone is staying home and not going stir crazy. Many of the craft stores sell things online with either curbside pickup or delivery for their customers safety and convenience. Maybe it's time to break out the board games that have been gathering dust. What ever you do, please stay safe.

Hugs,

Sharon

My Take on the Seafarer's Cap

When I was in the navy, we had a winter hat similar to the seafarer's cap. We called it a watch cap. It was a basic head covering worn in the winter to keep one's noggin warm. I remember freezing in one particular winter in Great Lakes, IL. I wore my watch cap on liberty to keep my ears from freezing. I have always liked the simple style of watch caps.

A somewhat comparable crochet pattern for this style of cap that I very much like is the  seafarer's cap pattern because it is great for men or women without looking "frilly." I wanted to modernize it a bit hence the faux fur pompom I attached to the top.

Hope you enjoyed this.

Stay safe,
Sharon

A Couple Hat and Scarf Sets

Didn't want to share these with you until after Christmas. We had a quiet Christmas. Husband, his mom, son #1 and I had Christmas dinner together. Husband did a nice thing for my Christmas. I had lost the diamond in my engagement ring and he had it replaced as well as re-enameling the lettering on my Hawaiian wedding band and a Keurig coffee maker. Back to the subject of crochet, here's a couple hat and scarf sets. One is for a young lady and one is for a gentleman. Here's a look at a few pictures.

I used the Drops Pattern called Broadway with the addition of a flower.

I love the yarn I used to make the red white and blue scarf. It is a Red Heart yarn called Americana. I made this scarf using the granite stitch aka moss stitch so there wasn't a pattern. I know many people use this stitch for color pooling but I haven't had much luck with it but I like the texture of the finished product when using this stitch with most yarns.

This gray hat is what was called a watch cap when I was in the navy. This pattern calls it a seafarers cap.

This scarf is made the same way as the red, white and blue scarf. In real life, I didn't notice the argyle-like design; looks like I might have had an inadvertent color-pooling success.

This is it for now. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

Hugs,

Sharon

Shades of Purple--Hat and Scarf

Last night, I finished a hat and scarf set for my neighbor. It's her birthday party tonight and even though I'm having problems with my leg and won't be going, I wanted to send her a little something to help wish her a happy birthday.

Here's some pictures--

I made the hat a little "slouchy" and added several rows to the scarf to make it wider. Another change I did was I made the fringe with 1 strand of yarn at the end of each row. I included the end of the row yarn changes in the fringe and that way I had zero ends to weave in.

Have a great weekend.

A Different Take on Santa's Hat

Santa wanted a different look for his casual hat hence the tweedy and soft white of the hat in this picture. I have made this hat in traditional Christmas colors many times and enjoy the ease of this pattern. I do like the look of this one; it reminds me of the stocking hats that were so popular in my childhood.

Seasons greetings to all,

A "Batch" of Completed Projects--

I have had these projects finished for a couple weeks and have just  now gotten around to taking pictures and posting them. These are for a special person and I don't care if this person reads about them before receiving or not because this person deserves a smile on their face and I hope the anticipation of receiving these things will bring one on. This person has always been special to me and I don't know how to emphasize it enough so I decided to crochet some things. Crocheters know, that when you work on projects for your loved ones, you are infused with love and good thoughts and wishes for that person. I definitely wouldn't spend my evenings for several weeks working on something for someone I didn't care for. Okay, enough rambling on. Here's the pictures and pattern links.

Scarf for man made with granite stitch: This yarn isn't quite right for color pooling but the design is unique and I like it.

The yarn I used for these projects (except for slippers) is I Love This Yarn in "Camo" and "Dark Olive."  For the slippers I used 1 strand of the camo and 1 strand of "Lace" by Caron One Pounder. This is all for now. I still have more finished projects to post but I will save those for later.

Bless all,

Sharon

Off the Hook--

Getting ready for the cold and the holidays at our house. Here are some slippers to keep someone's toes toasty warm, a cute toddler Santa hat and a hat to keep a gentleman's ears warm. Patterns were all free and under each picture is a link to the applicable pattern.

I have several other finished projects done but I am saving them for another day.

A Couple Hats for Gentlemen

Love this pattern, it is easy to make and quick too. The only thing I'm not too fond of is that the stripes are a bit wonky where the rounds start but I guess it's okay if one considers the jog in the stripe to be the back. Here they are--

The pattern is found here

Thanks for stopping by for a visit. See y'all later.

A Few More Items

Here are some projects I recently finished. They were all easy and quick to make. I used Caron Cake yarn to make the hat and scarf. I love the colors this yarn comes in but I'm just not too fond of the flimsiness of the yarn and the recommended hand washing of items made from it. Some crocheters have machine washed their items without problems but just be careful.

Hat made with Caron cake yarn :

Scarf to go with the hat. The pattern makes a short scarf that fastens together with a button. I made this scarf a longer length and omitted the button. Here it is:

I am working on a manly looking afghan and it's almost 1/2 way finished. It's coming along nicely and I hope to have pictures before too long.

Wishing you all happiness and health...

Hugs,

Sharon
