Booties for Great Nephew

My niece had the cutest little boy right before Christmas. I sent him a blanket but I started thinking his toes might be cold this time of the year so I made him some booties. I still need to wash them and then it's in the mail they go. I wash most things I make with a hypoallergenic laundry soap and softener.

The pattern is found here. I didn't have any problems making these other than remembering how to count. 😞

This is a great project to make with odds and ends of leftover yarn. Seems like I frequently need something for a baby and these might be a great thing especially for winter babies.

Afghan Obsession Continues...

I have continued making making afghans using the Gigi’s Block Party Blanket pattern. Here are the latest 2.

The next rendition of this pattern has a more sedate, traditional look to it. There are 2 different yarns used, they are the same color but the second has a "fleck" look to it. I did the afghan in 4 sections alternating the yarns after repeating round 15.

With the leftover yarn, I made coordinating slippers.

Finally Posting Pics of Slippers I Made for Christmas

I have finally gotten around to posting pictures of slippers I made for family and friends this last Christmas. I may have missed a few pairs. This is my go to pattern for slippers that I have used for many, many years. Pattern is available here. I used the trial of Animoto software to make a slideshow. It is very easy to use but the trial has the watermark on pics. I like the software but too expensive for me to purchase.

A Scarf and Slippers

Thought I would share a few projects with you today. I had bought a cake of Bernat pop! yarn. The colors are beautiful and out of impulse I picked up the color blue blaze. I got it home and then spent most of an evening looking at patterns trying to decide what the heck to do with it. After several hours of perusing patterns on line, on the computer and in books I finally decided to make the flights of fancy scarf. I think it's pretty darned cute. I love the colors in it.

Of course, whenever I have a nice size chunk of left over yarn, I make some slippers. Here's a couple pairs that have recently entered the gift drawer.

More Bernat Pop!

Tootsie Warmers

Here are a few more pairs of tootsie warmers aka slippers that I have recently finished. Two pairs are for the granddaughter. I made them out of leftover yarn from the afghan I made for her graduation gift. She will be going away to school soon and I think she might like a few pairs to take with her. The other pair, the yellow and white ones, will be going into the gift drawer to be given to someone later on. I find it advantageous to keep a supply of these on hand.

Pattern

The rose and black pair I made according to the pattern but the other 2 pairs, I made a shorter cuff, I chained 3 (instead of 11) for the back portion of the slippers.

Replenishing the Slipper Supply

I had been running low on slippers in the gift drawer so it is time to make some more. I decided to leave the cuffs off of some pairs and I think they look great that way especially for warmer weather. As usual, I used my favorite slipper pattern.

Even More Slippers!

As you can tell, I was serious about making a bunch of slippers. Most of these are designated as small gifts. I think I will take 1 pair for myself and that is because I ran out of yarn making one pair and had to try to coordinate with some yarn from my stash. The 8th pair down is the pair I'm talking about. Some of these I have made without the cuff because I wasn't sure if I had enough yarn when I was using partial skeins to make. I like them just as well without the cuffs.

Slippers Everywhere!

Lately, I've been replenishing my supply of slippers. I like to have some on hand to give as gifts if I go visiting somewhere or otherwise need a last minute gift for someone. I can leisurely make a pair in 1 or 2 evenings. This pattern is great because it comes in sizes for men, women and children.

Slipper Mountain

My stockpile of slippers has been depleted so I have been busy making some for Christmas gifts. Here's my little mountain of them.

Closer look--

We're leaving for Florida late this year and I am freezing even though our temps have only dipped into the freezing zone a few times. My toes are like icicles and that's probably because I have Hashimoto's thyroid condition that has a symptom of cold feet; slippers come in handy.
