Baby It's Cold Outside!

I shouldn't be a cry baby because it really doesn't get as cold here in Kentucky as it does in the more northern states. I am a cry baby about being in extreme temperatures though I do appreciate the beauty of the ice we seem to have an abundance of today. Here's a glimpse of what you'd see if you were at my home today.

I don't know where the falling snow came from in this one. I thought I took a still photo.

Things Are Heating Up!

Are any of you experiencing a heat wave like we are? Not only is it hot, but it's sticky too! Here's a look at the temperature at our house yesterday. Remember, this is on our shaded patio with the ceiling fans running there. Oh, it's supposed to get up to 105 today!

How do you beat the heat? I make sure there are lots of cool drinks such as caffeine free sodas, ice tea and water to keep us hydrated. We stay inside and avoid swimming during the "heat of the day." We do take a dip in the cool times of the day to avoid sunburn--don't forget sunscreen too.

Keep cool my friends and have a wonderful weekend!

Sweet Potato Vine Growing Fast

The sweet potato vine I've started has outgrown the mason jar it was in:

It looks kind of alienish...

After pulling it out of the jar, the root system looked kind of like spider webs:

Hey look, there are signs of a leaf or 2!

New home:

We've had enough rain lately to float Noah's ark again. The question for the day is "when is enough rain enough?"

Look at this Crazy Weather--

It's been windy outside today and then suddenly there is this pinging noise. I looked outside and it's hailing like crazy! Here's a few pics:

Crazy Weather

The weather here is crazy. When the rest of the country was snow-bound, we didn't get snow. Now, the temperatures are above freezing and it's snowing like crazy. Strange, strange weather! I love my spruce tree in the front yard and you've probably seen it numerous times in my blog. I think it looks so pretty with snow on the branches. If you click on the picture you can see the snow coming down. Have a nice, warm day everyone...

Whazzz Happenin'

Not much going on here. DH and I spent a lazy weekend. I did finish the baby cocoon I was crocheting. I'll hold off on posting a photo of it until I get the matching hat done.

I'm making the blue one.

Winter storm is supposed to move in tonight. I have plenty of canned food on hand and a few MREs and the camping stove with several bottles of propane on hand just in case we lose power. Also have a few of the gallon-size bottles of water. If we get the word that the water will be cut off I'll fill the bathtubs up for miscellaneous needs. I just expect everything to be ok though.

The oven on my stove stopped working and I haven't had it for 2 years yet! I've always bragged about how quickly the oven pre-heated and I mentioned to dh that it seem to be taking a long time and he said "check it." The darned thing was stone-cold! I had mixed up a batch of cookie dough this weekend and tried to bake some snickerdoodles and I ended up resorting to my toaster oven to make them. The bottoms got a bit too brown but we ate them anyway. :)

Son #1 is going to Colorado this week. Hope he doesn't get snowed in there. I really don't want him to go there especially this time of the year but he's a big boy and I guess he can handle himself.

Need to get to the store to do my "coupon" shopping at Walgreens. Y'all take care...

Crazy Weather

The schools around here are shut down for the day and businesses have delayed openings. Whew, must have been a heck of a big snow storm! Nope, not at all. There may have been a little dusting of snow (I didn't see any) but what we did get was an ice coating on everything! Son #1s plumbing froze at his house and he wanted a ride over here to use the shower before work this afternoon. I walked out my front door to go to my car and I slid on my fanny! Don't worry, I have a "plush" fanny and wasn't hurt--but decided that he could be a little stinker for the day ;).
Looks wet but it's ice. (This part of the porch is new and can't be painted until spring so that's why it's 2-toned)

See what I mean about ice on everything?

Sending all my friends a virtual hot chocolate!!!
Ooops, there's a bag of ufo projects in the corner! lol!
